Additional Benefits of Comprehensive Assessment
The comprehensive assessment offers significantly more value:
-
In-depth understanding: Provides a holistic view of the individual's strengths and challenges across multiple domains.
-
NDIS readiness: Includes NDIS-specific language and recommendations, facilitating smoother access to support services.
-
Personalised support: The follow-up appointment ensures understanding of the results and tailored recommendations.
-
Broader scope: Includes additional assessments (adaptive behaviour, sensory profile, PDA) for a more complete picture.
-
Detailed reporting: Offers a comprehensive report useful for various support services and educational settings.
-
Personalised insights: The comprehensive assessment report includes all the results from the assessments and explanations of what that means to the individual personally, not just general information. This provides new insights into themselves, helping them better understand their unique experiences and needs.
The lite assessment, while providing a diagnosis, offers limited information and support compared to the comprehensive option. It lacks the personalised explanations and insights that can be crucial for self-understanding and accessing appropriate support.
Autism Assessments

You may apply for NDIS with autism Level 2 and 3. Often a single clinician diagnosis is accepted when done by a clinical psychologist. However, NDIS may ask for additional information such as a letter from a paediatrician and/or speech pathologist to confirm the diagnosis for children or a psychiatrist for adults. This is in keeping with National Guidelines for best practice for autism assessments.
Autism assessments including PDA profile are available for children over 5 years and adults. All assessments are done using zoom video.
The comprehensive assessment and report includes:
-
All the assessments including those needed by NDIS
-
The comprehensive report with the level of autism, all the results and recommendations including NDIS recommendations in NDIS terminology and aligned with NDIS requirements
-
Feedback session to read over the report and explain the results and recommendations and ask questions about what to do next.
-
A summary letter
The Lite assessment for adults includes:
-
An autism assessment
-
A brief summary letter stating the diagnosis and level of autism.
-
No Follow up appointment
This is NOT suitable for an NDIS application or for school funding applications and is only available to adults. This is suitable for someone who just wants their diagnosis confirmed and in writing
